Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 23, 2026
FamLink ("FamLink," "we," "us," or "our") is a private family photo and video sharing service operated by Allen Robertson, doing business as FamLink, in the United States (South Carolina). This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect through the FamLink mobile application (the "App") and the getfamlink.com website, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the rights and choices you have.
In plain words: FamLink exists so your family's photos stay private. We collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell your information, we never use your photos for advertising or to train AI, and you can delete your account — and everything in it — yourself, right in the app.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account information. Your first name, email address, and a password. Passwords are cryptographically hashed by our authentication provider; we never see or store them in readable form.
- Content. The photos and videos you choose to share, together with captions, comments, and emoji reactions.
- Invitations. The names and email addresses of family members you invite to your groups. You are responsible for having a basis to share those details with us (for family invitations, that is normally obvious and expected).
- Purchases. If you subscribe, the purchase is processed entirely by Apple. We receive subscription status (for example: active, trial, expired) — never your card number, billing address, or other payment details.
- Communications. Feedback you submit in the app and emails you send to support.
- Referral codes. A referral code generated for your account and, if you entered one, the code that referred you.
Information collected automatically:
- Push notification token. A device identifier used solely to deliver notifications you have allowed (new photos, reactions, comments, invitations).
- Service logs. Our hosting providers keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, request timestamps, and device/OS type) for security and reliability.
Information we do NOT collect: We do not collect your precise location, your contacts list, your browsing history, or advertising identifiers. We do not run analytics trackers for advertising, and we do not profile you.
In plain words: we know your name, your email, what you share, and enough technical detail to make notifications work. That's it.
2. How We Use Information
| Purpose | Examples | Legal basis (EEA/UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Provide the service | Deliver your photos and videos to the groups you choose; show reactions and comments; send the notifications you've enabled | Performance of a contract |
| Invitations | Email an invitation when you add a family member who does not yet have the App (people who already have accounts are invited inside the App instead) | Legitimate interests (connecting the family members you designate) |
| Manage access | Determine free-tier limits, subscription status, and access-code entitlements | Performance of a contract |
| Safety and security | Prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, secure accounts, debug failures | Legitimate interests |
| Legal compliance | Respond to lawful requests; establish or defend legal claims | Legal obligation / legitimate interests |
| Service communications | Important notices about your account or changes to the service | Performance of a contract |
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not use your photos, videos, captions, or comments to train artificial-intelligence models.
3. How Information Is Shared
With the family members you choose. Your content is visible only to members of the specific groups you share it into, after they accept the invitation. Nothing on FamLink is public. Be aware that group members can save shared photos and videos to their own devices — share with people you trust, as you would in any family setting.
With service providers (processors) who handle data only on our instructions to run FamLink:
| Provider | Role | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, and media storage hosting | United States |
| Apple | App distribution, payment processing for subscriptions | United States |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status management | United States |
| Expo | Push notification delivery | United States |
| Resend | Transactional email (invitations) | United States |
| Cloudflare | Website hosting (getfamlink.com) | United States (global network) |
For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of FamLink, our users, or the public.
Business transfers. If FamLink is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; this Policy would continue to apply to it, and we would notify you of any material change in ownership or use of your personal information.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
4. Your Photos and Family Content
- You keep all ownership of what you share. We store and transmit it solely to deliver the service (see our Terms of Service for the limited license that makes that possible).
- Group invitations must be accepted before an invited person can see any content in that group.
- Photos often include other people — especially children. By sharing, you confirm you have the right (and, where relevant, the consent of a parent or guardian) to share those images with your chosen group.
- FamLink is a sharing service, not a backup service. Keep your own original copies of anything precious.
5. Children's Privacy
FamLink accounts are for people 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13, and the App is not directed to children. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it. Contact us at the address below if you believe a child under 13 has created an account.
Photos of children shared by their parents, guardians, or family members are family content controlled by the sharing adult and are subject to the visibility rules in Section 4. A parent or guardian may ask us to remove images of their child at any time by contacting us.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- While your account is active, we keep your account information and content so the service works.
- Delete your account any time in the App: Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, your profile, your groups, the content you shared, your comments and reactions, your notification data, and your invitations. It cannot be undone.
- Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups of our hosting provider for a limited period before being cycled out.
- We may retain limited records where required by law or reasonably necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
- If you decline a group invitation, the invitation record is deleted.
In plain words: delete your account and your stuff is gone — no phone calls, no emails, no "retention team."
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards: all data is encrypted in transit (TLS); media and database contents are encrypted at rest by our hosting provider; database row-level security rules restrict every read and write to the specific people entitled to it; passwords are hashed; and administrative access is limited. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but privacy is the entire point of this product, and we design accordingly. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
8. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction. You can see and edit your profile in the App, and you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Deletion. Use in-app account deletion (Section 6) or contact us.
- Portability. You may request your content and account information in a commonly used electronic format.
- Push notifications. Turn them off any time in iOS Settings → FamLink.
- Invitation emails. If you received an invitation email and do not want the App, you can simply ignore it; we do not send marketing follow-ups to invitees.
To exercise any right, email allen.cr.robertson@gmail.com. We will verify your request using the email associated with your account and respond within the time required by applicable law (generally 30–45 days). We will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
9. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
In the last 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information as described in Section 1: identifiers (name, email); audio/visual information (photos and videos you choose to share); commercial information (subscription status); internet or network activity (service logs); and inferences are not drawn. We collect it from you directly and from your device; we use it for the purposes in Section 2; and we disclose it only to the service providers in Section 3.
California residents have the right to know, access, correct, and delete personal information; the right to opt out of sale or sharing (we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of); the right to limit use of sensitive personal information (we use none beyond what is necessary to provide the service); and the right to non-discrimination. Exercise these rights via the contact in Section 8; you may use an authorized agent with written permission.
10. EEA, UK, and International Users
FamLink is operated from the United States and information is processed on U.S. servers. If you use FamLink from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the "controller" is Allen Robertson d/b/a FamLink; the legal bases for processing are listed in Section 2; and you additionally have the rights to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the App or by email before the changes take effect, and we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of FamLink after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
